REFLECTING: Our time in Texas offered a peaceful week for students and staff!

In 2022, the Women’s Debate Institute marked a year of renewal and strategic impact. After two years of virtual programming due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we successfully returned to an in-person summer debate camp, providing a safe, inclusive, and empowering space for high school and college-aged people in debate. We featured provided lectures, a focus on community-building, and workshops on navigating gendered experiences in competitive forensics.

Beyond the camp, We expanded our Gender-Based Anti-Harassment Training, offering sessions designed specifically for the speech and debate community. These trainings addressed critical issues such as harassment definitions, bystander intervention strategies, safe reporting mechanisms, and setting professional boundaries. 

PLANNING: We’re excited to announce that the 2023 WDI Summer Camp will be held August 6–10 at Wasewagan, CA! This tuition-free, in-person camp is open to women and gender minorities, including trans women and men, and includes travel stipends to ensure accessibility for all.

Led by a diverse team of expert instructors, the camp offers a supportive, inclusive space to grow as a debater and community member. We can’t wait to see you!
